Wella Education Book

A long and trusted relationship with Wella Hair has enabled us to work on a variety of prestigious projects. For the fourth year in a row, we were asked to design the “Year Guide” for Wella Education and Events 2018.

The Brief

Wella wanted a book that would drive-forward and inspire their network of salon partners as well as the hairdressing industry. Working under the concept ‘Education at the Heart’, the book must provide creative inspiration and business acumen as well as teaching practical skills. The printed book would also need to be developed as digital tools that could be downloaded by their salon partners and students.

The challenge

Our challenge was to create a book that was both inspirational and functional – something that was very content-rich with course and event information, alongside lots of beautiful model and salon imagery. We decided early on to give the book an editorial / magazine feel. Using classic and handwritten typography on top of a tight grid structure, we applied fresh graphics, bold imagery and a rich colour palette to create a visual style that was exciting and on-trend, whilst still being true to the Wella brand.

The outcome

The new 100 page book and digital tools have been invaluable in helping Wella promote themselves as leaders in hairdressing education as well as keys business drivers. With an expected increase in course and events sign-ups this year, we know the book will continue to inspire the next generation of stylists to reach new heights in their careers.
